Graphics Card Query

Post by BST|v00d00 on Tue Feb 22, 2011 10:32 pm

Is anyone here running a GTX 560?

Im going to get a new card in the next couple of days and im looking at either a GTX 470 or GTX 560 to get me ready for Crysis 2 next month.

Basically i have no interest in ATI cards, so you dont need to suggest those. The card will play games (on Windows, except UrT which i'll run from Linux), run Folding@Home (via Wine on Linux) and decode HD videos in MPlayer (via CoreAVC on Linux). The machine usage is 90% Linux, 10% Windows. I use Windows, only for gaming, and reboot back to Linux when im done. Whether its mega overclocked or not is irrelevant, and i also have no interest in advanced DX11 capabilities, as i dont have Windows 7 (or Vista). I just want raw power.

TIA for any comments.

In case anyone wondered (which i doubt based on replies) i went with a Palit GTX460 Sonic Platinum and sourced a seperate Physx card for not much. Razz

It does everything i need (and some).

Only tested on a couple of games so far, but here are a few stats ive tried.

Far Cry 2 - 8xAA, 8xAF, High Settings @ 60FPS (1680x1050)
Stalker CoP - 8xAA, 8xAF, High Settings @ 45FPS (1680x1050)

Hoping at least 40-50FPS @ 1280x1024 (or higher) in Crysis 2 later this month. If not may have to buy another next month for some SLi action. Very Happy
